Flavours of China is a fun filled Oriental food-fest that gives you the chance to get a real insight into the world of Chinese cuisine in the heart of the London. Join School of Wok Head Chef and founder Jeremy Pang as he takes you on an adventurous food tour of London's historic Chinatown. Experience the vibrant aromas and flavours of the bustling streets before taking part in a hands-on cooking lesson where you will recreate a delicious and authentic menu of Chinese dishes destined to dazzle your dinner guests. Taking place on Fridays (booking essential, please!), it's the perfect day out for foodies looking to get a better understanding of the exotic flavours and ingredients found in Oriental cuisine.
Coming from three generations of Chinese chefs, Jeremy is in the ideal position to answer all your questions about London Chinatown's exciting delicacies. As you wander through some of the UK's finest Chinese bakeries and oriental supermarkets, you'll discover exciting ingredients like mangosteen, morning glory and jack fruit. You might also watch an expert make fresh dumplings by hand, or sample the sweet-toothed delights of honeybuns, sweet lotus cakes and red bean rolls. Whilst your tastebuds are off on their travels, you have the perfect opportunity to learn some of Jeremy's culinary secrets… Ever wondered when you should use light soy sauce, as opposed to dark? Unsure what the difference is between a green and white pak choi? Whatever your level of knowledge, Jeremy will help you learn new tips and tricks to equip you with all the know-how you need before hitting the kitchen…
After the Chinatown food tour you'll enjoy a selection of oriental light bites before entering our new state-of-the-art kitchens to learn how to turn your newly purchased ingredients into the Chinese banquet of your choice. Four menus are available, covering a range of your favourite dishes and the traditional cooking techniques required to create them. The 2-3 hour hands on lesson is 100 percent interactive, fun and educational and also includes knife skills, preparation techniques and how to master the core techniques of Chinese cooking.
After all of your hard work, we think it's only fair that you get the chance to tuck into your meal with a well-deserved glass of wine.
